Our curriculum team

Pialba's Head of Department (Curriculum) Mrs Jaime Hillhouse leads the three levels of Planning with all staff at Pialba State School.

Each Year level has a Year Level Plan for all learning areas which identifies the Australian Curriculum Content descriptors, assessible elements and ensures the Australian Curriculum is covered for all students in Prep to Year 6.

The HOD (Curriculum) leads the M1 - Unit Planning, unpacking of learning area units and assessments, develop learning ladders and goal setting for students.  Case Management students are identified during these planning meetings as well as the differentiations required for all students, focused intervention for those students not attaining a C and Intensive intervention for at risk students and students on an Individual Curriculum Plan (ICP).

During weeks 3, 5 and 7 - All staff are involved in Case Management Meetings in English to provide opportunities for the Case Management team to discuss student progress towards their learning goal using a sample of student work.  This collaborative analysis of student work allows for discussion of next steps in effective teaching and learning for case managed students.

During week 8 - the HOD (Curriculum) leads the M2 - Case Management Meeting focusing on our A and B level students to calibrate the evidence we are seeing in the student assessment samples of work in relation to the marking guides.

Pialba State School teachers are responsive to our student’s needs, they align the Australian Curriculum requirements in all learning areas and respond to the students learning through key signature pedagogies allowing effective instruction and differentiation occurs in every classroom, every day.
