Technologies (Design & Digital) Specialist
At Pialba State School, the Technologies learning area of the Australian Curriculum is delivered through purposeful, hands-on learning that connects digital capability with real-world problem solving.
Students develop essential skills in both Digital Technologies and Design and Technologies, engaging in learning that is practical, creative, and increasingly complex as they progress through the school. Lessons are not confined to theory—students are actively designing, building, coding, testing, and refining solutions to authentic challenges.
To support this, the school is equipped with a dedicated computer laboratory and a specialist Design and Technologies room, providing purpose-built environments where students can safely explore tools, materials, and digital systems. These spaces enable structured teaching of computational thinking, coding, digital systems, and design processes, alongside hands-on construction and engineering tasks.
A specialist Technologies teacher leads the program, ensuring strong curriculum alignment, consistent skill development, and high-quality instructional delivery across year levels.
The focus is on engagement through doing: students are problem-solvers, designers, and creators. Whether they are programming, modelling, or constructing, learners are developing future-ready skills that build confidence, creativity, and capability in a rapidly changing digital world.
